Coding or Modern-Day Sorcery?

I’m beginning to feel like a modern-day sorcerer.

Every day, a little more of our lives are lived through and affected by the internet, and now I’m slowly starting to feel like one of the creators of this new digital world. I can finally act on the ideas I’ve had but didn’t have the “super powers” necessary to make them happen.

Don’t get me wrong, this is one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done. In fact, if you’d asked me a couple years ago if coding was a possibility for me, I would have laughed at you. I don’t have a technical background, and this is a brand new animal that I’ve never even touched much less tamed. Yet when you start putting in the work and start comprehending even a small part of it, you begin to get the sense that the beast IS tame-able. This IS achievable, it just takes work.

I enrolled at TTS because although I’d been successful at most roles and projects I’ve had (primarily centered on the “business-side” of things, such as leadership, project management, etc.), my skillset was too varied and my experience was all over the place. I needed to pick a skill that was in-demand and well-paid, and hone in on that. After a lot of research and thought, coding was the winner and here I am.

I did a good amount of research on bootcamps before coming here, and I’m extremely glad I didn’t go with an online bootcamp. Our instructor, Lukas, has been incredibly helpful and a life-saver when I don’t understand something. I’ve also enjoyed getting to know my classmates, and you start to develop a sense of camaraderie with the people you’re struggling through this with. Considering the level of challenge this has been, I don’t know if I would have finished if it was an online bootcamp.

All in all, I’m glad I decided to take on the challenge and learn the magic, and I’m excited to embark on an entirely new career and direction in life.
